I don't know why the guy brought up sarah palin when discussing joe biden. is it a must that something should be said about her for every gaffee that joe makes?remember how the congressman was sent packing after the macaca comment. why no outcry on this 7-11 comment? double standard?
Joe Biden is stating a fact that in Delaware most 711s are owned/operated by Indians. It is a fact the same way as most motels are owned/operated by Patels. You might have heard the saying " In US there are hotels, motels and Patels" Where as Macaca comment is making a insult based on how some one looks and also the specific word is a racial slur.

Smerchas...Are you sure about what this? From what I remember, you have to be in the country when you apply for your AP...But there is no necessity that you need to be here when it is approved !
Technically, you can ask your attorney or the person who is living at the address where the AP document would be sent by the USCIS, and request them to forward the approved AP to your then current address...That way, you don't have to stay in the country while USCIS processes your application...
Ofcourse, the flip side is, if your AP is denied for any reason, you would have to go to the US consulate in wherever country you are and request the special admission letter...

I think "Advance Parole" means just that, you have to have it in Advance of leaving the country for it to have any meaning. I am wondering if there is a potential issue for the applications filed between July 3rd to july 17th. This is the period when everything was in limbo. Is there any disadvantage for these folks?
So far I haven't seen anyone getting checks cashed or recipted in this period. We do see July 2nd notices comming in.
I had my 485 application received at NSC on July 3rd. And now we are hearing that they may transfer cases to TSC if I-140 was approved from there. Another delay! This wait is getting me restless.

Part 6 , Processing Information On Page8 of I-765 Instructions states =>
"Interim EAD. If you have not received a decision within90 days of receipt by USCIS of a properly filed EADapplication or within 30 days of a properly filed initial EADapplication based on an asylum application filed on or afterJanuary 4, 1995, you may obtain interim work authorization byappearing in person at your local USCIS district office. Youmust bring proof of identity and any notices that you havereceived from USCIS in connection with your application foremployment authorization."
Notice that Interim EAD is for ASYLUM Applicants.

In any case, i remember this may when President George Bush and the senators met at the white house, he (the prez) told that he believe to have a bill by the end of the year, he never mention before election.

Good question. SKIL bill will not only help person of person from advance degree in the USA. It has lot of other provisions, which can substaintially reduce a deadly retrogression like, Depondents are not going to count in numeric cap, Master and higher degree from USA will not count in cap (Many master degree holders are in EB3), There are lot of provisions. You can study SKIL bill and realize how good it is.

I was not sure if I am "highly qualified" or not. Reading through a forum I came to know about the SKIL bill - which I don't think is for guys with my qualification.
Is IV only pursuing SKIL bill or are there any other bills that would benefits people like me? If there are, then where can I read about those provisions? I want to browse though them and want to see if it would help my case.

As my H1 extension is pending.. What happens to my H1B status when I return in following scenareos?
1) If H1 approval comes after I arrive
2) If H1 is approved when I am in India.

I have no idea about property taxes about VA. In urbana, the property tax is 0.00094 % of sale price. Urbana is about 36 miles from DC exactly. for a 300K house, the property tax is about 282$ PM.

Here's another parallel Idea.
Let us try to schedule a meet with the prospective presidential Candidates (McCain, Clinton and Obama) instead to let them know our issues.
By the time we actually get a meeting with the current president, his term may have expired. The presidential candidates, on the other hand will have some time now (not a whole lot but a little). If we squeeze some time there, we may be able to atleast get our issues out there.
The reason we should meet the current President is that he has nothing to loose...he may show some sympathy on us....Though the prospective candidates will support us, they cannot show their full support in public till elections are over and they settle down...sometime end of 2009!

I read now about Direct Filing....and I understood that if you apply after july 30...you can send the application either to Nebraska or Texas. Hopefully I'm right in this matter.
